The Past Week....

The past week was a busy one.
From Sundays recovery ride. Monday working and then driving up to Port Hueneme for a Design Meeting to be held on Tuesday. Tuesday having the meeting and then driving home. I Ended up missing figure skating. I was bummed. And this week the rink is closed... boo. The ice is being resurfaced. A much needed thing at the skating rinks. I went to spin class on Wednesday. I had used clipins on the spin bike and did I feel uncoordinted. I probably looked like I never used clipins before. The ones I use on my bike are PINK (of course) speed plays. And I using shimanos for the spin bike. I can move my ankles one way on speed plays, and not the same in the shimanos. SO my feet kept coming out. I hope this wednesday I will be a little better.
Thursday i was able to make it to the training ride. Mari, our wonderful coach decided on time trials on Torrey Pine Hill. Hills, not too much my favorite, but I am getting used to them. My first ride up it was 9 minutes 9 seconds. The second trip up I rode with Sandy and it was 12 something. Sandy is so amazing. I look forward to talking with her every week. She has a little tattoo of the ironman. I am wanting to do an ironman. But will my health allow me to do it. I have no clue. I have no clue how each hour will be. One minute I can be feeling great, with a pain level that is tolerable. And then 5 minutes later I want to cry becuase I am so much pain, I can't even stand up. Its great for the dating life. I will add some more insight on it later.
Sandy has some fundraisers lined up for september. One on September 7th at The Barrel Room in Rancho Bernardo. With the flyer she has put together, you can go eat and 20% will go to the CAF. I have never ate there but September 7th will be my first time, which I am sure it will be amazing. An amazing meal to help out an amazing orginzation. If you want a flyer, post a comment to me with your email address and I will send it to you. Once I get the details of her second fundrasier which will be a fashion show, I will tell everyone about it.
My Friday was a girls night with dinner and a movie. House Bunny, very funny. Guys you probably wont like it. But Sunday I saw Step Brothers, very funny too.
Sundays Training Ride... Now I am getting caught up with my week.
The immunity pump challenge... We had 7 radio contestants present. Scott was there to return the pump and not ride. After voting on allowing him to do the challenge even though he was not riding Jim (last years radio contestant winner) explained the challenge. He had 7 cards. Ah my favorite number. And one card said immunity. What we were hoping was we get that card we get the pump. Nope we were wrong! Whoever gets the immunity card has to give it to someone. So we control the fate of one rider this week. I quickly decided one who I would pick if by chance I get the immunity card. Jim handed out the cards to us and we all got to look. And to my surprise I had the immunity card. Right away I gave it to MOMO. The only other female in the contest. Gotta try to keep the girls in. I know that she was happy to get it. The pump is really needing a womans touch to it too. After some annoucements we headed on the ride
I have been not looking at the ride sheets. I find if I do, I can end up psyching myself out. We ended up adding some distance to a ride we did in the first month of training. Riding up Scripps Poway Parkway. My first time up it... SUCKED. I WAS MISERABLE. and in alot of pain... wanted to cry it was so bad. Huge Thank you to BOB and Julie, who waited for me and rode the last part of the hill. This Sunday was a lot better. I was able to go up Scripps Poway Parkway alto easier then the first time. There was some pain, but alot better. I met up with this guy who was riding and we talked about halfway up the hill. Which was good to keep my mind of the ride and the heat. Once getting to the top of the hill and the SAG, it felt awesome to have completed that hill.
A good number of people turned and headed back from here, some radio contestants did too, it was sad to see everyone all go. But for various reasons they had to go. You all were missed. We then turned right out of the sag stop and came up on iron mountain. A place my roomie Jeanna likes to hike up. I have yet to go. We went through some breath taking views and our group was split up. I was riding with Bob and Julie. We stopped at one point to take in the view for a moment. I will attach the picture soon. And we went through some crazy, fun, but scary downhills. I was running low on water, it was hot, mentally tiring, and physically. Finally our SAG-A-LICIOUS TINA was there again for us. we refueled and headed home. Brent and I rode together and Diane caught up with us after Sandy met up with her husband. I had a little spill, but recovered. I caught a part of the bike lane that had some really uneven road. I some how skinned my left elbow a little and a few little bruises. How no clue. I think I startled Brent a little... SORRY BRENT I DIDNT MEAN TO. I had no intentions of playing in traffic. Finally we made it back to Fletcher Cove... I put my bike in the rack and headed home. I was done, so I thought. I went home showered and met up with friends to see Step Brother. Going shopping and then to dinner. Passing out cold for about 30 minutes on my friends couch. I then went home and went to bed.
Which brings me to monday. After workign 10 hours today, I am sitting here at the computer passing the time for tomorrow someone else is going to have to be kicked out of the radio contest. Its rounding 10pm and I am getting up early tomorrow. I have to get ready for work and listen to the radio. I am also meeting up with my friend Jeff who I have known since "A" school. We were at the same school house. He is a Builder aka carpenter, and I a SW aka Steelworker. We went to different battalions, but we both ended up with orders to San Diego. Not the same command but ended up running into each other and we quickly became friends again. It helps to have someone going through the same things as you. We have had plenty of talks about getting out of the Navy. And this Friday we are going to this bar in O'side to see Hillside Strangler, a punk band. My first one. It will go well with the crazy hair and nose piercing. My roots have already starting to show so I got some more dye and was getting high off hair dye tonight too. But its still the same crazy vibrant red. We are also meeting up for dinner tomorrow at one of my favorite resturants Applebee's. LOVE IT.
Okay I am off to bed now. I will write more soon
